At this year’s carnival, the princesses and Elza, as well as traditional firefighter, police and pirate costumes, were the most popular, according to a recent survey by REGIO GAME.
Parents bought masquerade for an average of 5-7000 forints, and accessories for 1-2000 forints according to the sales data of the toy retailer. Although parents also had to take an active part in the carnival duties, in return they could also come across imaginative costumes such as a rubber bear, the Eiffel Tower and a gas stove.
Only one-third of kindergartens and primary schools were required to dress at carnival, but in total, seven out of ten children wore their favorite masquerade for the time of the ball, according to a recent study by REGIO GAME. According to the parents interviewed, the most fashionable costumes this year were inspired by fairytale heroes, superheroes and princesses in their surroundings. “According to our survey, among the five most popular masquerades, the princess and Elza dresses did indeed fit, but the cinematic characters were pushed into the background by traditional firefighter, police and pirate costumes,” said marketing manager Dávid Gyaraki.
Six out of ten parents bought carnival clothes and accessories more ready-made, the former spent HUF 5,039 online, HUF 6,964 in the store, while the latter spent HUF 1,612 on the Internet and HUF 1,034 when shopping in a traditional store. “For us this year, the policeman, soldier and Batman, as well as the Golden Hair, Angel and Plush Giraffe costumes, were the best-selling, and among the accessories, the witch’s broom, clown wig and scream mask sold the most,” the marketing manager added.
There was no shortage of parental help and fun costumes either
Parents were not only prepared for the carnival party with the child's favorite costume: in nearly three-quarters of the families surveyed, kindergarten and school welcomed parents to take an active part in event-related tasks and help with carnival performance, sandwich making or making. "At most balls, there was also a dance performance and raffle for families in addition to the costume parade: the latter was prepared in a very creative way by the latter. Dávid Gyaraki introduced the details.
