Many parents became teachers when, according to the regulations due to the coronavirus, children were taught from home and many could "enjoy" the home office version of work.
Since then, a lot of water has flowed down the Danube, as they say, but perhaps the quarantine period focused more attention on learning together with the children. Although teachers have since taken back their rightful role, many parents (even without online learning and quarantine) still keep an eye on their child's studies. Normally, this should be the case, but there are always those who want to squeeze the maximum out of their children at all times. This may be due to the fact that they want to base their adult lives on learning, but at the same time they can see the realization of their own dreams in their children.
The fact that children need their parents' support when learning is clear and appropriate. At the same time, this should not mean that essentially father or mother solves the tasks instead of the child. This is anything but the right behavior, especially not the right intention for teaching.
Parents are beyond the benefit of their schools. What children learn in primary and secondary school, they have already mastered. Even if the knowledge is worn out, it can be revived with some reading. The children, on the other hand, have the knowledge that stuck to them at school, so if we always solve the tasks for them, then half the knowledge remains. Learning together means that we help them understand and learn new things, but we do not do the work for them. Especially not to get a better ticket. It rather qualifies the parents and not the child's knowledge.
Children have a greater need for us to help them with ideas that make learning more effective when learning together. They can use different colored text highlighters, which perfectly show the important words and phrases in the book or booklet. A good number of students are visual types, and such highlighting helps to recall what they have learned. A good way to learn larger pieces of material is to have the seedling make notes. To do this, you must read the entire material section and write out the main points.
In the case of younger children, it is worth approaching everything playfully. You can sing a song or a poem from the hard-to-learn part.
It is true for children and adults alike that it is necessary to ensure a calm environment during learning, i.e. no music, no TV and no phone calls.
