The fetus is diagnosed with Down Syndrome as early as the sixteenth week, and by the twentieth week parents can consider whether or not to raise a sick child. It is a positive experience that more and more families are having children diagnosed with Down syndrome, said Károly Kisari, president of the Hidden Treasures Down Association on Kossuth Radio during the Day.
Children with the disease must begin development as soon as possible in order to live a full life,
but he stressed that one should not overdo it and take the kid from development to development because they need their childhood and play time. A development center and playground have been created in Nyíregyháza, where free play also has a developing effect.
This spring, I would like to launch the Space Station playground in the courtyard of the Budapest Development Center, which will perform similar functions to those of Nyíregyháza. All five sensory devices are installed on the playground, so that not only children with Down syndrome can use it, but other people with disabilities and even healthy children can enjoy the game. They also promote the integration of children. In addition, a space program has been launched to stimulate thinking, creativity and inspire participants to imagine how people with Down syndrome will live in space in the distant future, said Károly Kisari.
He added that the purpose of his association was to change public perceptions and attitudes towards people with Down syndrome. In addition, they are trying to provide as much help as possible to those suffering from the disease. They want to create an integrative world where there is no question how a Down Syndrome can cope.
He added that it would be important to have inclusive development in Hungary as well, as only one school systematically accommodates children with Down syndrome. There are also institutions where enthusiastic teachers undertake the care of sick children, even if the school does not have the appropriate infrastructure. This is useful because healthy children can learn a great deal of empathy and learn how to help their Down's patients, ”added Károly Kisari.
