Faro the Great has sung to eight hours of work, eight hours of rest, eight hours of fun. Why do we have to work eight hours?
Even for those who love their work, the atmosphere in the workplace is pleasant and the colleagues are kind, it is thought-provoking that we spend most of our everyday lives in our workplace. It brings daily regularity into our lives, there is no doubt about it, but when nature tempts, the sun shines, we would like to be outdoors, we can’t do that because we work.
Our workplace is also a great constraint. In addition to having to comply on multiple levels, there is even responsibility for what we do. If we feel good about our work even beyond that and can do it after eight hours of work, we are lucky. Just think of the situation of someone who hates your job and / or co-workers, you have to do hard, physical work, and overtime is not uncommon.
We accept, it has been working for generations so that once we have finished our working hours, we can go home. However, there are those who do not know when to stop working. Even if colleagues say goodbye in turn when their work is done. Some are grounded by his work and become addicted to it.
We may feel exhausted, unreasonably weak, tired, and feel that we need rest, peace, quiet. In such cases, no matter how valid the love of our work is, something is still needed that will lift it. Many people solve this by organizing programs for themselves and their families in everyday life. In the middle of the week, they install a cinema, a restaurant dinner, go on a weekend trip, or pay for a wellness weekend. We need something to restore work-life balance.
We don’t even think anymore, we just do our thing. We do not think about why the working hours that have existed since the Industrial Revolution were set at just eight hours. Yet this meant a reduction in working hours at the time, as eight hours of work replaced 10-16 hours of work, with Ford being the first company. They found that reducing working hours to eight hours would not only have reduced profits, but increased them, as the workforce were more relaxed, zealous people rather than fighting.
We don’t know what to do, working hours have been eight hours ever since. Even if we want a different place, we’d rather read a book or watch a movie in a quiet place, we can only do that on the weekends. Instead of regretting ourselves, we find opportunities in everyday life that turn us off, cheer us up, fill us with joy.
