Artificial intelligence (AI) will play a key role in the future success of companies worldwide, according to recent research from EY.
Smart solutions such as mobile assistants or customer service chat bots can significantly improve the user experience. However, the introduction of the first MI-based services in Hungarian companies is still in its infancy.
Most business decision makers in the United States have already recognized the importance of artificial intelligence. Eight out of ten managers say this technology solution will play a key role in the success of their company, according to a survey of EY 500 executives in the US. Nearly two-thirds (62%) believe that MI will greatly contribute to a more efficient operation of the company, maintaining competitiveness, and even a better understanding of customers.
One in two respondents (55%) said the technology would have a significant impact on reducing the company’s costs as well as revenue growth. Artificial intelligence facilitates, among other things, the spread of applications such as chat bots for smoother contact with customers or software for analyzing and forecasting consumer needs, but also creates the technical background for self-driving vehicles.
Yet corporate executives see serious limitations in MI’s business use. Almost one in three (31%) respondents explained that there are obstacles to the introduction of new solutions due to a lack of trained professionals.
"In what areas is it necessary to introduce artificial intelligence, with what purpose and expectations? Most domestic companies are now facing these issues and need to take initial steps. This will be followed by major developments that can significantly accelerate the pace of their development," said Mihály Zala, Head of EY Cyber Security Consulting. The expert added that in the first strategic steps, it is worth turning to consultants who can ensure the effective implementation of the technology through their international background and experience.
According to EY's experience, many company managers in Hungary fear that they will not be able to effectively prepare their organization for change. This is often based on previous, stalled projects or lack of experience with new technology.
"Innovations always have two important, interrelated parts: technical change and the impact on the people involved. In the case of improvements, these aspects should be addressed together in parallel. This will ensure the introduction of MI, which will also have a positive impact on the company's financial results." - emphasized Mihály Zala.
