We experienced the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, and the Hungarian government and the population reacted accordingly. We have experienced serious regulations that we are still feeling the effects of.
Not so and not we can still go shopping when we want, it is necessary to keep a distance of one and a half meters with our fellow human beings, the use of a mask is still mandatory in most places. The summer break for the kids has started. Many families have experienced all the pros and cons of digital education and a great many have switched to home office work.
Working from home is no stranger, but it has never been as fast-paced as we have just experienced it. During the telecommuting, many parents may have been with their school-age child and, in addition to working in the home office, became their child’s teacher. They could enjoy all the inheritance of being at home. Families could spend more time together, in addition to learning, they also had time for joint games and conversations. In addition, teleworkers could benefit from not having to spend time and energy on public transport, and even more comfortable working in their own home environment. Moreover, contacts with employees were limited to telephone or online solutions, thus reducing the number of potential conflicts. Is it possible to talk about stress at work while working in the home office?
The answers to this question were sought by French psychologists even before the outbreak of the pandemic. Gathering several studies on this topic, systematizing their results, they came to the conclusion that anyone who went to work on a daily basis and then had to suddenly switch to telecommuting because of the virus is definitely stressed. In the situation created by the coronavirus, many experienced this, not everyone went flexibly, without tensions. The home office not only meant not having to go to work, but also changed the way you work at many points. We had to learn and get used to telecommuting, and it was precariousness, novelty, that could cause tension in most of us.
Working from home sounds good, and anyone who didn’t have to fulfill their commitment in this way might think that the home office has a lot more freedom to work with, as we don’t have to go to work in the morning, we can even do our work in our pajamas. We interrupt work whenever we want, television, music can speak for it, that is, the circumstances only support the work. But many worked from home precisely to avoid having to give up their jobs to attend their children’s distance education. However, learning at home also means that the parent becomes the teacher of their child, so work has to be interrupted several times, which is another source of tension.
For many, the home office means not only working from home, but also learning, playing and working with children. In addition, of course, they had to make their own commitment, that is, they performed on several fronts at the same time, at home.
Basically, it’s not easy to reconcile family life with work, but it could have been an even bigger problem in a home office.
