In the first quarter of 2019, hourly wages in the student segment increased further in line with the national labor market situation.
The average hourly rate earned by full-time students is around 1,200 HUF in Budapest, typically 10-30% less in the countryside. Of course there is also a difference between rural towns, as lower settlements and in the eastern region have lower wages than in Northern Transdanubia or regional industrial centers, eg. In Debrecen, Kecskemét or the Győr region - based on the recent summarized data of DiákÉSZ, the member of the Association of Hungarian Student Enterprises, which is the largest school cooperative and thus covers half of the market.
While there were no significant differences between the lower and higher bands years ago, the differences in wage booms are increasing. In the dynamic wage increase, the intensive minimum wage increases in recent years have played a role as well as labor shortages. The three main areas offer different earnings potentials: while the non-skilled, fast-trained jobs (simple physical, office jobs, data recording, scanning, photocopying, labeling, packaging, product loading, etc.) have a payroll of around 800-1000 Ft net, In the case of professional internships related to university studies, students who are looking for a job can rarely encounter wages of HUF 1300-1500 in IT, engineering and finance. Between the two, there is a range of jobs that require language or special knowledge with a pay band of 1000-1300 Ft. At the same time, the whole picture includes the use of supplements such as there is also the possibility of higher wages for unskilled jobs.
However, it is true for all school cooperative work that students are able to choose a secure pay-as-you-go activity for their studies and free time, where a trained mentor or contact colleague helps them to handle their skilful things as smoothly as possible during their studies.
