There are things that don’t or hardly change. However, change is inevitable and necessary in some areas.
Change can also manifest itself in the world of work. If only because technical progress is constantly shaping the implementation of different workflows. At the same time, employees must adapt to the new technology, as they must understand how to operate and program machines and devices. Moreover, not only are workflows automated, but even completely new, previously unimaginable professions are emerging.
One or two generations earlier, it was quite common for young people to start working immediately at school, and it was also typical that they despised their feet in one place and even spent decades there. This is no longer the case. We are learning more and more, as anything can fit into lifelong learning. It is also characteristic of our young people that they try themselves in several fields, train themselves accordingly and acquire a profession. Adventurers make a detour even abroad to gain as much experience in life as possible. Instead of obtaining a qualification at home, it is not uncommon for manual, unskilled work to be done. The intention to start a family shifts to the beginning and middle of the thirties for many because they go their own way, look for the right profession and job for them, and want to cut into the commitment and childbearing by creating their own existence. The life model outlined can be said to be general, but even this was confused by the pandemic.
The coronavirus epidemic has forced many to work from home. They are the ones who could call themselves lucky because they could keep their jobs. There were those who had just lost their jobs due to the pandemic. The hospitality industry was one of the great victims of this period. Those working in such jobs were forced to wink in other directions as life went on even then. Costs and expenses did not disappear anyway, so they had to look for another sector.
Today, not only is it important to find a well-paying job when changing jobs, but it has also become a serious factor to associate a given position with flexible working. It has become inconceivable for a worker to spend his years as an active worker in the same place and retire from there. If only because more and more jobs are being created, at the same time a profession and a job can give us more leeway. In addition, it is possible to work from home and work remotely even without a pandemic.
The “Z” generation is already choosing between positions that take into account the atmosphere of that particular job and can generally be said to want to leave something permanent behind. This is also a very important factor because the workplace is essentially our second home where we spend most of our days. However, this is no longer so clear, as there are more and more solutions: in addition to the employment relationship, we can stand on our own two feet and look for the more promising way.
