Where there are people, especially where many people work together, it is inevitable that there will be no disagreement, conflict, clash of views, or just plain unsympathy. If you have already experienced one of these and felt that several people turned against you, it is considered workplace harassment or mobbing.
Workplace harassment or mobbing is defined as behavior in which a person regularly, repeatedly or constantly negatively abuses or causes harm to another person in the workplace. Moreover, they can even carry out bullying in groups. This behavior can be verbal, sexual, emotional or physical. Workplace bullying can have a serious impact on the victim and can negatively affect the victim's physical and mental health, work performance and quality of life.
If you are a victim of workplace bullying and want to put an end to this unbearable, nerve-wracking, all-consuming situation, it is not enough to wait for external help. This means that there may be no one to stand by you, or even if there is someone, it is possible that you will not get anywhere.
The first step is to recognize mobbing. Many people are able to put up with the fact that there are such people and try to avoid or tolerate the abuse. It is not necessary to use physical violence to inflict deep and serious wounds on a person. That is why workplace abuse often operates on an invisible level. Gossip, spreading bad news, and ostracism are also considered mobbing.
If you have realized that you are really being harassed at work, then make notes about it. Record exactly what happened and when.
Many people do not dare to ask for help in the workplace, because they think that the whole thing will only get worse. However, this complacency can turn the process just as bad. That is why you should confidentially visit a colleague you trust and at least you can get rid of the mental burden. Of course, this will not stop the mobbing itself, so check the company's documents to see if there is any official procedure in such cases. If you find a reference to this, act accordingly. That might be enough to stop this campaign against you.
It is possible that one, other, or several members of the management are among the bullies. If you walk in these shoes, it is no longer enough to take action within the company. Consult a lawyer or employment lawyer for legal assistance.
Ultimately, if you want to protect your peace of mind and your health, because mobbing lasts longer, then look for another job.
