It is not enough that we suffered during the coronavirus epidemic, now as a result of the wars raging in the world, we have found ourselves faced with a problem that does not spare our wallets. Saving now can be a life-saving operation.
Prices in stores change almost weekly. It is not worth remembering what and where is cheaper, because it is almost certain that this will change within days. Inflation is so high that it is impossible to keep up with it. Unfortunately, our salaries cannot keep up with this pace, so it is crucial that we try every opportunity to reduce our consumption and reduce wastage and expenses.
Shopping is necessary, our daily task, but now we have to look at this activity with slightly different eyes. Much depends on what, when and how much we buy. If we want to curb our costs, we have to think rationally and it doesn't hurt to change some habits:
Go with a list!
Before you start the list, take a look around your home. You can also anticipate what you want to make in the coming days, so you can write down non-perishable products that will be used in the near future. If you go to the store, take out this list and stick to what is written there. It is just an addition that there are also price differences between the different raw materials, which of course should be taken into account. Use coupons and points collection cards. It sounds tempting to go shopping once, but food that does not require refrigeration can deteriorate during several days of storage in the refrigerator. In other words, we do more harm than good, because it can end up in the trash.
Word time
All food has a warranty period. Look around at home to see what is about to expire and focus on being able to use it. Look for recipes for which you can use such products.
In stores, they try to get rid of near-expiration foods as discount products. Check the date anyway. If you like it, then buy it and use it according to the date.
Too full, too empty
If you were asked what you'd like to eat after you've gorged yourself, you probably wouldn't want anything, so you wouldn't be able to come up with a very good idea. But if you're too hungry, almost anything will do. Well, when shopping, try to go to the store so that you are neither too hungry nor too full.
Tartar doesn't chase me
If possible, do not enter your shopping in the morning, on the way to work, because if you notice how much time has passed, you may have left half of your list at the store. After work, shopping is also a good way to relax.
Look ahead!
If you have time, cook it in advance for several days and in larger portions so that you can eat it for days, and with foresight, you can also have some ready-made food in the freezer that you just have to take out later.
