Today, it is no longer surprising if members of the older age group use the Internet to manage their affairs and to arrange their purchases in the same way. It is true not only for the elderly, but for everyone, that your data and money can be at risk if you are not careful enough.
The world is full of fraudsters and the Internet has given them new ground. Not a day goes by without someone trying to obtain your personal data on behalf of a bank or insurance company in our country. Sometimes they just want their personal identity, and other times they want to reset their bank account. It doesn't seem like a real danger until we experience it all.
Still, how can we reduce our exposure to hackers' games?
Try to use as strong a password as possible. That's not enough. It is worth using a password that is not only strong, but also unique. That is, we do not always use the same password everywhere. Of course, the problem with this is that each of the many interfaces requires a separate password, which is difficult to remember, but then a password management application can come into play, which can be used not only to store, but also to generate passwords.
Use a unique email address. One that you only use when making online purchases and use payment methods that handle bank card data securely.
Wherever possible, use two-step authentication, which makes unauthorized access more difficult, and you yourself will be notified if a stranger tries to pirate your sites. That way you can act in time.
Constantly update the applications and the operating system on your computer and phone, because you can also eliminate possible protection gaps. Updates are there to make the system better and better.
They regularly try to collect data on the Internet. Fraudsters often try in the form of text messages or e-mails, so be careful with all suspicious letters. In other words, be suspicious if they want to find out banking or personal information about you.
It is important to only buy from trusted websites. But how can you decide which one is safe? HTTPS is the solution. https indicates a secure http connection. In this case, a green lock appears in the address bar of the browser, which indicates security, which means that you can proceed with the purchase. But even so, if you want to buy from such a site, read it and search for reviews. If more people give you a good review, you are less likely to be stolen.
Also find out how you can make the best of the situation if the purchase is not fulfilled.
To protect your computer and data, use an antivirus and a firewall.
