Maintaining a healthy lifestyle requires ensuring a proper diet and this includes consuming fruits and vegetables. But where and how to store these raw materials in the summer?
If it’s summer, it’s heat, and if it’s hot, we crave cool. We automatically store products in the fridge, but also one that only hurts. Our intention is to prolong the fresh texture of vegetables and fruits.
The best solution to keep you fresh is the fridge. The cold prevents and slows down the decomposition processes, so we can prolong their freshness by several days. We want the same with tomatoes, but the fridge is not good at all for a plant that already likes a warmer climate. Although we would think that’s why we might put it in the fridge right away, in fact, tomatoes kept in the fridge lose their flavor, their color, and even their texture changes. Room temperature is the most suitable storage place for tomatoes. And the already very mature pieces can be stored in the cooler part of the pantry or cellar for days.
Tomatoes and peppers are vegetables bought and consumed together by many, and since many know that tomatoes are not worth storing in the refrigerator, this is exactly what they think about peppers. Although we often buy the two vegetables at the same time, storing them does not require one. Peppers require refrigerated storage and should be left uncleaned and refrigerated. Even if you put the peppers in a bag, make sure it is exposed to air.
In the case of potatoes, we may not even think about storing them in the fridge, and the idea is correct. It should not be stored in a refrigerator, as it causes the starch to turn into sugar when it is cold in the cold. It is also worth keeping in mind that if you take it home in a nylon bag, put it in a box or basket so that you can ventilate it. It is a good idea to store it in a cool place and remove softer, moldy pieces so as not to ruin the rest.
After the vegetables, let's get to the fruits. Apples are usually stored in a cool, ventilated place, although it is highly recommended that they be placed in the refrigerator. By keeping it in the fridge for a long time, we can ensure the enjoyment of fresh and crispy apples.
In addition to apples, bananas are also a popular fruit. We love being at home, but it quickly turns brown, and in this form most people are no longer happy to consume it. To avoid this, if we have several bananas at home, we wrap the stalks uniformly with a plastic bag or foil, because ethylene gas is released through it, which also causes the bananas to ripen and overripe. That’s enough to keep it fresh for longer, so it’s not necessary to store it in the fridge. Too cold, too hot is not conducive to bananas.
