Thinking about the future of our children, it seems even more important to pay attention to the integrity of our environment, since we leave it to them as well. We can do a lot for environmental awareness at home.
Selective waste collection is a commendable step towards doing something for our surroundings - and especially for ourselves. Undoubtedly, we cannot influence the giant companies and the many, sometimes completely unnecessary motorists, but we ourselves can still do a lot in order to free our environment.
Consciously frugal
We hear so many times that the Earth's water reserves are running out that I also pay close attention at home to not use water unnecessarily. After bathing in the bathtub, use that water to flush the toilet, showering and washing dishes are also combined with conscious water consumption.
Waiting list only
This budget-friendly method is also environmentally friendly, as I don't overbuy myself, and so the accumulated products do not deteriorate, which would end up in the trash.
Bring and take
In our own lives, we have already introduced the fact that we do not hang up another plastic bag when shopping, but pack it in canvas and sewn bags. There are quite a few in the car, but I always have at least two in my bag. I fill my mineral water bottle several times, but I like it even more when I have the water in my small water bottle. I don't even go to the store or pastry shop for coffee, but take home-cooked portions with me in a thermos. These last steps even save my wallet.
For free
During my purchases, I try to choose products with as little extra packaging as possible. If I buy vegetables or fruit, I stick the price tag on the product after weighing, so I only produce one piece of garbage. If there is a free store near you, don't be afraid to visit. This method can also reduce the amount of waste.
Energy saving
Most of our light bulbs have been replaced with energy-saving ones for quite some time now. Now it's getting dark earlier and earlier, but we still only turn on the lights when we have to. We turn off the lights in the rooms when no one is there.
Don't throw it away!
I don't throw the natural and decomposable materials left over from cooking into the trash, but put them in the compost bin and use them to enrich the soil in the garden.
