Our garden plants were prepared in the autumn to arrive in the cold winter. This has happened, so our garden beauty is now relaxing. However, our indoor plants do not experience the cold outside.
Houseplants feel little of the cold that the winter months provide, only experiencing something in the air, but other dangers threaten plants in safe heat. It is precisely the warm and dry air that our plants suffer, but only if we do not treat them properly. Our plant in every room is different, not only in their variety but also in their needs. That's why the greens have to be treated differently, but there are some tips that can be true for each plant.
Protecting our houseplants not only protects from cold. The fact, however, is that plants should be placed in a place that is not covered by the air movement. There is a need to ventilate, but most plants do not bear the sudden changes in temperature and drafts. But warm air is not the best. If most sunshine is near the radiator, you should also choose a clear spot that is not near the radiator.
Winter means a heating season. Bringing our home into warmth also means that the air becomes drier. This is not good for humans or plants. With heating, dry air will also be characteristic of our home if we do not take care of the humidification. The use of humidifiers for radiators is recommended, but our potted plants can be further assisted by humidification by spraying plants and their environment with water. Another excellent solution is to put a crumb on the base of the plants and sprinkle them. The same purpose is used and their hygroscopic effect can also be exerted by brain clay balls that are also sprayed on the soil, at the base of the plants. Clay balls absorb moisture and gradually evaporate it.
In the autumn, we had to do some things among the indoor plants as well as our plants in the garden. The time of pruning, transplanting is not now. If we were to go into these operations now, they would hurt our plants more than we thought. no matter how protected, the potted flowers are in a warm place, it does not mean that they miss the winter. Thanks to their internal clock, indoor houseplants, like the outdoors, work in the same way in winter. The difference is that they do not detect the hard minuses, but they slow down their life activity, such as pruning, transplanting, but even nutrient sprinkling can be harmful. The addition of the nutrient solution is intended to stimulate our plants to grow. No, but it is not possible in the winter, during the sleeping period, so it is completely unnecessary. Even sprinkling should be treated more carefully. Because plants are relaxing, they need less water.
