Alcohol kills, makes you stupid, damages your health if we are not able to control it, otherwise it can also contribute to a good mood and it is almost mandatory to consume it during holidays. The key is moderation.
It was not only the many and varied foods that could wear down our digestive system during the festive weeks behind us. We were able to feast on the family meals and the delicacies specially suited to the occasion, and so the alcohol went down better. Champagne and other spirits were an essential element of the New Year's Eve party, and then we entered the year 2023. The first month of the year is always more difficult. The comings and goings of Christmas calmed down, and January brought a much quieter period. Our lives are back to normal, but January can also be seen in another way: dry.
The term dry refers to January being alcohol-free after the alcohol consumed on festive occasions. Of course, in other months it is also possible to not drink alcohol at all. You can even do it as a New Year's resolution.
It is easy to observe dry January for those who do not consume alcohol at all, but there are those who reward themselves not with chocolate or other sweets at the end of the day or at other events, but with alcohol.
If you decide not only to pay attention to your health in terms of food, but also to reduce alcohol consumption, then keep a dry month. Before starting the challenge, answer yourself the question, why do you drink alcohol? Is it mesmerizing? Does it give you pleasure? Substitute action? Is it good to drink with someone?
Then ask yourself the question, why are you embarking on the alcohol-free challenge?
The truth is that most alcohol doesn't taste so good that people start drinking it. Rather, they long for the state they owe to alcohol: it relaxes them until they drink to think about their problems or try to forget them.
What can you expect from dry January (February, March, etc.)? During the one-month abstinence, you may realize that your life works without alcohol. Moreover, regardless of it, you can be happy and laugh, just as you can think about your life or how to move on.
The higher the degree of addiction, the more difficult it is to keep such a challenge. If someone consumes alcohol on a daily basis, and then suddenly nothing, the body senses it and manifests itself in the form of headaches, depression, anxiety, irritability, rage. That is, it produces withdrawal symptoms. At this point, you have to be very sensible so that the craving doesn't get the better of you and you don't reach for the glass. Instead, you have to look for some healthy replacement activity: sport, hobby. It doesn't hurt to have helpful and supportive people to motivate you to not stop the challenge of the dry month.
