Banking Service Providers have been tested by the Conscious Buyers Association. It has been investigated whether it is readily available on the banks' website and how much information is available on single or regular bank card costs. It turned out that there are more financial service providers to develop.
Probably not only will we choose a bank on this basis, but it is also worthwhile to inquire about the one-off or regular costs associated with it before comparing the bank offer.
On the basis of 10 criteria, 9 banks' bank card offers were examined. These banks were viewed by Budapest Bank, CIB, Erste, K&H, Magnet, MKB, OTP, Raiffeisen, Unicredit.
In their investigation, only the information on the banks' website was taken into account, and in each case the basic account package and the simplest card were selected. The question was, if a lay consumer wants to find out about a bank card case on the banks' online interface, you will find the most important information for your choice and if so, how much you should look for it.
The information is narrowly measured
If we look only at the online interface, many important questions remain hidden from the consumer. Therefore, it is worthwhile to search for the so-called "bank" on each bank side. There is also a list of conditions where we already have much more data, but unfortunately we do not get answers to any questions here either. Not to mention the fact that condition listings (announcements), business rules, general contract terms are often difficult to interpret.
Based on the cumulative criteria, none of the financial service providers received the maximum points to be obtained. While it is clear to all banks that domestic and foreign card purchases do not have a separate cost, we are not getting any answer about the exchange rate for foreign purchases or withdrawals.
For most banks, you can find out about eg. how much is the replacement of the first card or the lost card, the cost of withdrawing money from your own vending machine, but there were several financial service providers where there was no or no clear information about them.
The list is led by OTP, Magnet Bank and Erste Bank, because they had the easiest information to find. Information seems to be the least important for Budapest Bank, as we do not get a clear answer to many questions here as a consumer, and even finding it is time consuming.
