With a truly energy-efficient combined refrigerator and washing machine, you can save tens of thousands of HUF a year on overhead accounts, but using the devices more consciously can also help reduce energy consumption. On March 6th, World Energy Saving Day, LG experts gathered the best tips for using our household appliances in an environmentally conscious way, and save money.
In Hungary, if households were to replace all over-the-age washing machines, refrigerators and freezers older than 8 years, the total CO 2 emissions of Hungary would be reduced by 1.9 million tonnes a year. [1] One fifth of this amount would be due to the replacement of washing machines and the remainder by approx. the replacement of obsolete refrigerators and freezers with new appliances would bring half to half.
The replacement of outdated household appliances is not only environmentally friendly, but also a very cost-effective step, as the investment will pay off in just a few years, even if we miss out on state support for the Home Warm Program.
Energy efficient appliances save a lot
Ten-year-old refrigerators consume nearly 400 kilowatt-hours per year on average, and even older products can consume twice as much. "This means that replacing the teenage machine by replacing only 149 kWh with a low-freezing A +++ category, our annual electricity bill can be reduced by about 10,000 forints, and saving up to 30,000 forints from an older cooler." LG Electronics Hungary Ltd. experts. The situation is similar for washing machines. Today's average, up-to-date appliances use 7 to 12 cubic meters of water per year, compared to 220 washing cycles, while older machines with a capacity of only 4-5 kg can consume twice as much. There is also a significant difference in the energy bill, with a washing machine over ten years old that can consume up to 2.5 times more power than an average device available today. "Choosing a new washing machine, depending on the frequency of use, can save you up to 10-12 thousand HUF on your electricity bill and a similar amount of water and sewerage (depending on your local tariff)," said LG experts.
Technical magic words for saving
The most modern coolers are so-called. The inverter is made with a linear compressor - this solution can reduce the power consumption of the device by up to a third compared to the conventional compressor coolers, moreover, these types are more reliable, durable and quieter. In the case of washing machines, the inverter is also more durable than the conventional drive. Devices with Direct Drive engine are recommended by experts.
If you want a fridge combined with a freezer, it's worth it. Choose a Total No Frost device. In these machines, there is no icing in the normal cooler and freezer, which would degrade energy efficiency and do not have to bother with regular defrosting.
In the case of washing machines, a useful, time-saving feature is the so-called. Turbowash is a solution that can reduce washing time by efficient nozzle rinsing and, in addition to the same end result, save energy and water as well as when choosing a shower instead of bathing. In more advanced machines, weight automation measures the laundry, which helps to reduce water consumption.
