Heritage A celebration is held at the Skanzen over the weekend, where visitors can also learn about the pottery of Mezőtúr, the dance traditions of Nagyecsed, the folk art of Kalocsa and the tradition of cooking sheep stew in Karcag. On Saturday Ágnes Herczku and the Nikola Parov Quartet will give a concert, on Sunday Erdőfű and Balogh Melinda will give a concert.
“The Skanzen will celebrate our diverse intellectual and cultural heritage on September 19 and 20,” the institution said in a statement to MTI on Monday, which highlights the traditionally Pentecostal event held by the museum in September this year.
As it is written, at the Heritage Festival, visitors can get to know Hungary's rich heritage in living traditions. The communities on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage present their colorful customs, handicraft and oral traditions.
Visitors can meet the fertility masters of Eger, who will introduce them to the secrets of the hundred-wrinkle cloak, try to wear the buses of Mohács or the matyos around Mezőkövesd.
In addition to the Gypsy and Hungarian dance traditions of Nagyecsed, those interested can also get acquainted with the student traditions of Selmec and the ticking of Moha.
During the handicraft demonstrations, visitors can discover the wool embroidery in Nagykunság, the lace making in Hövej and the mat weaving in Tápé.
They can also take part in an instrument show and a bird show, as well as learn about the tradition of Lipizzan horse breeding and blue painting.
The Skanzen also offers a music program on weekends. On Saturday, Ágnes Herczku, who plays world music, and the Nikola Parov Quartet will give a concert, and on Sunday, Erdőfű and Melinda Balogh, formed by dance house musicians, will play music.
